Invite everyone to watch, wave or join a group photo. Let each child choose.
Set a clear meeting point and share timing, group size and space details with the team.
No. Check the current process with the relevant operator and confirm character-visit details separately.
At a Pentagon-area celebration, keep the character visit easy to follow: a hello for the birthday child, a photo guests can join, then one short shared activity. Offer choices rather than calling children forward individually, and leave room for anyone who would rather watch. Before the party, send our team the timing, guest count, space arrangement and any child-specific needs. Confirm program details, costs and availability; a date request alone does not book a visit.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For facilities managed by DC's Department of Parks and Recreation, a permit application is not final simply because it has been submitted. Check the current processing, payment and documentation requirements, and describe the gathering and hired entertainment to DPR. This guidance does not apply to National Park Service locations, which have a separate operator and permit process.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
