Let the child choose a wave, a distant look or no greeting. A trusted adult can stay nearby, and photos can wait.
Invite everyone to join one simple wave or song from their places, then bring forward small groups for photos if the child wants.
Give our team your date, location, theme request and preferred visit length. Confirm the program, costs and availability directly.
For a Rubidoux birthday, make the first interaction easy to opt into: the child can wave, watch from a parent's lap or approach for a photo later. Keep the planned visit focused, with a brief hello, a simple invitation for guests and an unhurried picture opportunity. If you are considering an overnight stay, separate that booking from permission to hold a daytime gathering. Ask us about the character theme and proposed timing, then confirm program details, costs and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
California State Parks' reservation policies on this page cover overnight accommodations, including camping and lodging. If your plan includes an overnight stay, check the accommodation-specific booking and cancellation conditions. A camping reservation does not establish permission for a daytime birthday gathering or hired entertainer; confirm those separately with the relevant operator.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
