Keep it brief and let the child decide whether to approach. A wave, a parent beside them, or simply watching are all reasonable choices.

In Scott Depot, West Virginia, start with the exact property and space you expect to use. A clear arrival point and an uncluttered spot for the character can make the first hello easier for young guests. Offer a wave or watch-first option, then invite willing children to join a photo or brief group activity. Beforehand, tell our team about the layout, access route, and the child's preferences. State park information does not confirm gathering approval, and theme-provider details, costs, and availability must be checked.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
West Virginia DNR describes lodging options within its state parks and forests and links to the official park directory. Identify the exact state-managed property, then ask whether there is a reservable gathering space suitable for your proposed activity. Confirm access and hired entertainment rules; a lodging listing does not establish group-event eligibility or approval.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
