Offer a wave or gentle hello, then let the child choose whether to come closer. A trusted adult can remain beside them throughout.
Use one planned group moment, such as a photo, and invite guests in calmly. Keep the child's exit route clear and participation optional.
Ask us about possible ideas for the requested theme, then confirm the program, costs and availability with our team. Keep a simple alternative activity in mind.
For a Selz, North Dakota birthday, make the character visit easy to follow: welcome the child, offer a simple greeting, then invite guests to a photo or shared moment. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Selz venues or local policies. A state park example elsewhere in North Dakota is not a recommendation for a Selz venue. Ask us about the requested theme and possible program ideas; confirm details, costs and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
North Dakota Parks and Recreation lists two rentable picnic shelters at Grahams Island State Park alongside a separate activity center. Use this as one state-managed facility example, not a venue recommendation: confirm which space, facilities and access conditions apply to your plan. Ask the operator about hired entertainment before arranging the visit.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
