Let the child watch first, then offer a wave or brief hello. Avoid making a photo or activity a requirement.
Set aside a short photo moment and have an adult call small groups forward when the child is ready.

For a Skiatook gathering that includes a character visit, first make the party layout fit the space you have actually booked. Welcome the character with a brief hello, then let the birthday child choose a conversation, wave or quiet photo. Guests can join one at a time rather than crowding around. If you are considering a state park stay, verify what the reservation includes and whether hired entertainment is permitted. Ask us about the visit you have in mind; confirm program details, cost and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Oklahoma's official tourism agency describes several lodging and gathering-space options in state parks. Check whether the exact reservation covers overnight accommodation, a meeting area or another facility before planning the group layout. Confirm current access conditions and permission for hired entertainment with the operator; the guide is not approval or a guarantee of a birthday venue.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
