Choose a familiar adult to stand near the child and let the child decide whether to pose, wave, or simply watch.
Share the meeting point and tell guests who can guide them if the gathering moves indoors.
Ask us to confirm the requested theme, visit format, activities, and availability. Any program ideas need confirmation.
A Tanana celebration can leave room for a relaxed character hello instead of making the child the center of attention right away. Offer a wave, a brief greeting with a parent nearby, or a photo when the child feels ready. Before the gathering, decide who will welcome guests and who will handle any venue questions. Outdoor plans need a practical backup, while any shelter or activity rules should be checked with its operator. Confirm visit details with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Alaska's Refuge Cove State Recreation Site publishes an online reservation route for its picnic shelter. Check the specific shelter, date and access conditions rather than assuming every state park works the same way. Ask the operator about permission for a hired character visit; the reservation route alone does not establish that permission.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
