Yes. Offer a wave, conversation or watching from nearby as alternatives. Let the child choose without drawing attention to the decision.
Choose a short greeting, photo window and one optional group activity. Have an adult manage turns and share the planned timing with the visit team.
It is a request, not a reservation or payment. Confirm availability, cost and program details with our team.
A Township of Washington celebration can feel more relaxed when the character visit has a clear beginning and a few easy choices. Let the birthday child decide whether to greet the visitor directly or watch from a parent's side. A photo turn and one simple activity can give other guests a chance to join without turning the visit into a long program. Check your specific venue before planning; local facility information is not verified here. Ask us about the requested costume theme, then confirm details, cost and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
As a city-scoped example within New Jersey, Edison municipal parks provide the published park amenities directory. Edison publishes a park amenities directory with pavilion, picnic grove and playground fields. Use the directory to check facilities for your group, then ask the responsible venue about reservations and paid entertainment; an amenity listing does not reserve it. This example applies only to Edison's listed municipal facilities; other cities and state-managed parks have separate operators and rules. Confirm the exact venue's reservation process and permission for hired entertainment.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
