Let the child stay beside a familiar adult while the character waves or speaks from a little distance. The child can choose whether to come closer.
Choose one planned photo spot with room for the child and a parent. Invite other guests for a quick group picture afterward, without requiring everyone to pose.
Ask the property about space, access and entertainment permission. Ask our team to confirm the proposed program, cost and availability.
In Union, West Virginia, a relaxed character visit can center on a warm hello and a little time for the birthday child to settle in. Keep the first interaction optional, then invite the group to join a brief photo moment or easy call-and-response. If considering a state-managed property, verify the exact site and its rules rather than assuming lodging or park information includes party space. These are statewide planning checks, not verified Union venues or policies. Ask us about the theme you have in mind; program details, cost and availability require confirmation.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
West Virginia DNR describes lodging options within its state parks and forests and links to the official park directory. Identify the exact state-managed property, then ask whether there is a reservable gathering space suitable for your proposed activity. Confirm access and hired entertainment rules; a lodging listing does not establish group-event eligibility or approval.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
