Start with a wave or watching from beside a trusted adult. Let the child decide whether to come closer.
Share the meeting point and explain that photos and group activities are optional, so nobody needs to rush.
Ask us to confirm the requested theme, visit program, costs, and availability.
A West Baldwin gathering can give the child of honor a quiet moment with the character before the rest of the group joins. Begin with a wave or a greeting from a comfortable distance, then offer a photo without pressure. For guests, choose a short activity with an easy way to watch or take a break. Ask us about the character theme and possible visit program; details, costs, and availability must be confirmed. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified West Baldwin venues or policies.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Maine's Bureau of Parks and Lands lists both sheltered and unsheltered group picnic areas and directs visitors to contact the park for reservations or information. Verify which type of area you are booking, its facilities and the operator's conditions for hired entertainment. An open shelter should not be treated as a substantial indoor weather backup.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
