Let the birthday child choose a wave, a greeting beside a caregiver or a photo later. No child needs to approach.
Offer a simple group cheer or song, and leave space for children who prefer to watch.
Tell our team the date request, venue, approximate group size and child's preferences. Ask about program details, costs and availability; a request is not a reservation.
A pavilion gathering in Ushers, New York, can keep a character visit contained and easy to follow: welcome the character, give the birthday child a choice of a wave or a short greeting, then invite willing guests into a group photo. Give quieter children room to observe first. These are statewide planning checks, not verified city venues or policies. Match the shelter to your group and confirm its rules before treating a reservation as permission for entertainment. Ask us about program details, costs and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
New York State Parks describes a range of pavilion and event rental sizes and amenities. Check the exact facility's capacity, layout and regional booking conditions before choosing a gathering plan. Confirm whether a hired character visit and any equipment are permitted; the statewide rental page does not establish that every activity or date is available.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
