Offer the birthday child a wave, a photo or the option to watch. Let them choose without drawing extra attention to the decision.
Invite a group greeting, then offer small photo turns. Keep a clear path so guests can move without crowding the child.
Choose the indoor backup, name the weather monitor and share the plan with guests. Confirm theme, visit details, costs and availability with our team.
For Westville Lake, build the party schedule around a short character visit and a clear weather decision plan. The birthday child can greet the character with a wave, choose a photo or watch from a familiar adult's side. Guests can join a brief welcome, leaving room for the child to take a break. Before inviting everyone outdoors, identify where the group would go if conditions change and who will make that call. Ask us to confirm the requested theme, program, costs and availability; no local venue rules are established here.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
