Let the character greet the group as a whole. Children can wave, watch or join when ready, with no required one-to-one moment.
First confirm the facility's allowed hours and booking conditions with its operator, then discuss timing with the character team.
An open shelter is not the substantial indoor building described in lightning guidance. Arrange a suitable building for an outdoor party.
A well-paced character visit in Ashland, North Carolina can leave children time to warm up. Begin with a hello from the character, offer a short group activity, then invite guests to take photos in turns. If you are considering a state park facility, check its permitted hours before choosing arrival and departure times. These are statewide planning checks, not verified Ashland venues or city policies. Ask us about the theme, and confirm program details, costs and availability with our team.

North Carolina State Parks notes that facilities can have limited hours. Check the exact shelter or room's permitted use period, layout and reservation conditions before setting the entertainer's arrival and departure times. Ask the park about hired entertainment separately; a facility reservation does not establish approval for all party activities.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
