A wave from across the room or a photo from a comfortable distance can be enough.
Give a simple cue for the group hello, and make clear that watching is also welcome.

A Balmat gathering can stay relaxed when the character moment has a clear start and an easy way to take part. Let the birthday child choose a wave, a short greeting, or a photo with a trusted adult nearby. Guests can join a simple group hello or stay back and watch. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Balmat venues or policies. Prepare a comfortable gathering point and ask us about the requested theme; confirm program details, cost, and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
New York State Parks describes a range of pavilion and event rental sizes and amenities. Check the exact facility's capacity, layout and regional booking conditions before choosing a gathering plan. Confirm whether a hired character visit and any equipment are permitted; the statewide rental page does not establish that every activity or date is available.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
