Offer watching, waving, or joining as equal choices. Avoid requiring a child to speak or pose.
Choose one simple activity and ask an adult to guide turns so the character can focus on each child briefly.
Check the space and activity permission with its operator. Ask us separately about program ideas, costs, and availability.
For a Karval gathering, shape the character visit around the actual space rather than assuming a particular layout. A friendly arrival can lead into a child-led greeting, then a simple photo or shared activity with guests taking turns. Check the ground and seating before choosing games, and leave an open route for anyone who needs to step away. Give the organizer the child's preferences and the expected group size. Ask us to confirm the character program, costs, and availability.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife explains that group-area amenities vary by state park. Check the actual shelter, surface, seating and access arrangements for the chosen group area before planning games or a character entrance. Ask the park about the proposed hired entertainment and any event procedures; listed amenities do not establish approval or availability.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
