Let them watch from the side or stay with their caregiver. Participation and photos should be invitations, not expectations.
Confirm the planned visit timing and program with our team, and check the venue's rules separately. Costs and availability also require confirmation.
Tell them what the greeting may look like and offer a choice to wave or watch first. Keep the plan flexible.
For a Lansing, Ohio celebration, keep the character visit easy to follow: let children know when the greeting begins and where they can gather. The birthday child can choose a wave or a photo, with a familiar adult close by. After that, offer a brief group activity without requiring everyone to take part. Parents can prepare by choosing a simple gathering layout, sharing the schedule with guests and confirming the visit program and timing with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
