In Mott Park, Michigan, keep the character visit easy to follow: choose a greeting spot, let the birthday child set the pace, and offer guests a simple way to join. A wave, photo, or short shared activity can each be enough. For an outdoor plan, decide ahead of time who will monitor the weather and where the group will go if conditions change. Confirm program details, costs and availability with the theme provider before making plans.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
