Offer a wave, a view from beside a parent or an optional photo. Let the child watch first without turning the greeting into a required activity.
Choose a spot with room for children to take turns and keep one adult available to help. A group photo can be a lower-pressure choice.
Ask us about program details, costs and availability. If the party is outdoors, confirm the venue's practical route to your indoor backup.
A character visit in Ottawa Hills, Ohio, can fit a family gathering without asking every child to jump into the action. Start with a friendly greeting and let guests choose whether to wave, watch or pose for a photo. A short, familiar group activity can help children participate at their own pace. If the party is outdoors, decide before the day who will monitor weather and how guests will reach an indoor backup. Ask us to confirm visit details, costs and availability before finalizing the schedule.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
