Let the child watch from beside a trusted adult or offer a wave before any closer interaction. Avoid making a hug or photo part of the expectation.
Invite everyone to join one brief group greeting, then offer optional individual photos. Keep the photo spot clear and turns moving.
Set timing only after checking the venue's permitted hours and entertainment rules. Confirm the requested theme, program details, cost and availability with our team.
A Shady Brook character visit works best when its timing fits the venue's permitted hours and the child's pace. Begin with a quiet greeting, then offer a simple group moment such as waving together or taking an optional photo. Keep a trusted adult nearby so the birthday child can watch before joining. North Carolina State Parks guidance is statewide planning information, not confirmation of Shady Brook facilities or policies. Check the exact venue and ask about hired entertainment. Theme-provider activities, cost and availability need confirmation with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
North Carolina State Parks notes that facilities can have limited hours. Check the exact shelter or room's permitted use period, layout and reservation conditions before setting the entertainer's arrival and departure times. Ask the park about hired entertainment separately; a facility reservation does not establish approval for all party activities.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
