Offer the child a choice to wave, watch beside a trusted adult, or say hello. Give them time before suggesting a photo.
Try one brief activity with a clear opt-in, such as a simple dance or call-and-response. Children can participate from their seats.
Check facility permission and logistics directly. Ask us to confirm character program details, costs, and availability.
A Throop party can keep its character visit easy to follow: welcome the guest of honor, pause for a comfortable hello, then invite the group into one short activity. Leave children free to watch rather than perform, and take photos when the birthday child is ready. If you are considering a pavilion or event rental, New York State guidance is a statewide planning reference, not confirmation of a Throop venue or its rules. Check the exact location's capacity and permission for entertainment. Ask us about the visit; program details, costs, and availability must be confirmed.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
New York State Parks describes a range of pavilion and event rental sizes and amenities. Check the exact facility's capacity, layout and regional booking conditions before choosing a gathering plan. Confirm whether a hired character visit and any equipment are permitted; the statewide rental page does not establish that every activity or date is available.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
