Offer a simple choice: wave hello or join a photo. Let children watch from beside a trusted adult if they prefer.
Share the backup location, route, and who will help children move. Make the decision role clear before guests arrive.
No. Ask us to confirm availability, program details, and cost; a request alone is not a reservation or payment.
A weather-ready plan can keep a Bidwell birthday from feeling rushed if an outdoor gathering needs to move. Begin with a calm character greeting for the birthday child, then offer a short photo pause and an invitation for guests to wave or join a group picture. Children can participate at their own pace, without being singled out. Choose an adult to follow the forecast and make the move decision, and explain the indoor plan to guests ahead of time. These are statewide planning checks, not verified Bidwell venues or local policies. Ask us to confirm the requested theme, program details, cost, and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
