Keep the opening brief and let the birthday child decide whether to approach. A trusted adult can stay nearby while the child watches or waves.
Offer a group song or photo to those who want to join. Make observing an acceptable option for children who need more time.
Confirm the reservation process, access, setup, and whether hired entertainment is permitted. Separately ask our team to confirm the requested theme, program details, costs, and availability.
In Colton, Washington, make the visit easy to follow: start with a friendly greeting, offer the birthday child a choice to wave or come closer, then invite guests to a short shared activity. A designated adult can help children take turns with photos without making participation feel compulsory. If you are considering a park gathering, verify the exact reservation channel and activity permission with the operator. Ask us about the requested character theme and confirm all program details.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Washington State Parks identifies reservation types that require its call center. Check the actual facility type and booking channel before trying to secure a picnic shelter or group space online. Verify access, setup and permission for hired entertainment separately with the operator; a reservation route is not event approval.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
