Offer a photo with the character as a choice, not a required moment. The child may stand beside a caregiver, wave from nearby or skip the photo.
Use an optional activity with room to watch first. Tell guests in advance that joining in and appearing in photos are their choice.
Confirm the surface, seating, access and any event procedures with the operator. Set a clear meeting point, then check theme, program, costs and availability with our team.
For a Deckers gathering, think through the space before planning the character's entrance. A clear route and a comfortable place for the birthday child to stand with a trusted adult can make the greeting easier. Keep the visit manageable with a hello, one optional activity and time for photos. Children can watch before joining, and the birthday child can choose how close to get. These are planning suggestions; ask us to confirm the requested theme, program details, costs and availability.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife explains that group-area amenities vary by state park. Check the actual shelter, surface, seating and access arrangements for the chosen group area before planning games or a character entrance. Ask the park about the proposed hired entertainment and any event procedures; listed amenities do not establish approval or availability.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
