A party near Hoosac Tunnel benefits from a clear weather plan as much as a thoughtful character moment. Keep the visit simple: a warm greeting, a few family photos and an optional group activity can give children room to warm up at their own pace. Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
