In Kenton, Ohio, give the organizer one clear job: keep the group informed if weather changes the plan. Pick an indoor backup and decide who will monitor conditions before inviting guests. For the character visit, keep the first moment simple, then offer a group activity and optional photos if confirmed. Children can take part, watch, or step away with a caregiver. These are statewide planning checks, not verified Kenton venues or policies. Ask us to confirm the requested theme, program details, costs, and availability before the party schedule is shared.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
