For a Merrill, Wisconsin, celebration, make the first character moment easy to join and easy to skip. The birthday child might offer a wave, choose a greeting or stay close to family while guests gather for a photo. Keep the activity area uncluttered and ask one adult to help guests know when the group moment begins. These statewide planning checks do not verify Merrill facilities or policies. A state facility example is not evidence about local options, so check the actual location and permission before planning. Ask us about program details, costs and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Wisconsin DNR describes the reservable picnic shelter at its MacKenzie Center and its booking route through the State Parks reservation system. Treat this as one state-managed facility example: check the actual shelter, nearby facilities and conditions with the operator. Confirm permission for a hired character visit; the listing does not establish rules for every Wisconsin park.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
