Offer the choice to wave, join the group or watch. A trusted adult can stay close while children decide.
Choose one photo spot and allow a little time after the greeting. Invite children in small groups rather than stopping the whole party for a long line.
Check the facility hours, layout and permission for hired entertainment. Confirm the character program, cost and availability with our team.
For a celebration at New Hope Academy in North Carolina, the most useful first step is to fit the character visit around the facility's permitted hours. Once timing is clear, plan a gentle greeting, a short shared activity and an optional photo moment. Children can participate at their own pace, with an adult nearby to help them settle. Confirm the room or shelter layout and any rules for hired entertainment before inviting guests. A date request is not confirmation; check the program and availability with our team.

North Carolina State Parks notes that facilities can have limited hours. Check the exact shelter or room's permitted use period, layout and reservation conditions before setting the entertainer's arrival and departure times. Ask the park about hired entertainment separately; a facility reservation does not establish approval for all party activities.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
