For a gathering in Northwood, Maryland, make the plan specific to the venue you actually choose. Recreation rooms and other spaces can have different capacity, setup and activity conditions, so confirm those directly with the operator. Keep the character visit gentle: a welcome, an optional wave or conversation, and a short photo moment can give children time to adjust. Ask our team about the requested character theme and proposed program before sharing details as confirmed. Maryland-wide assumptions are not a substitute for checking the exact local venue.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
As a city-scoped example within Maryland, Baltimore city recreation centers provide room rental information. Baltimore directs families to their recreation center for room rental information. Check the actual room capacity, permitted entertainment and setup time rather than assuming any recreation center can host the same program. This example applies only to Baltimore's listed municipal facilities; other cities and state-managed parks have separate operators and rules. Confirm the exact venue's reservation process and permission for hired entertainment.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
