That is a fine way to take part. Offer a wave or a spot beside a caregiver, with no pressure to approach.
Use one clear location and let an adult call willing guests over in small turns. Children can opt out without needing to explain.
Confirm the venue's access, permission and backup route. Ask us about the requested character theme, program, cost and availability.
For a Palmyra, Nebraska gathering, prepare the adults as well as the children: decide who will greet the character, who will help with photos and who will watch the weather. Keep the child-facing plan gentle, with a wave or a chance to observe before any group activity. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Palmyra venues or local policies. National Weather Service guidance recommends assigning a weather monitor and planning a substantial indoor backup. Check venue arrangements directly, and confirm the character visit with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
