Start with a wave or a greeting from beside a parent. Let the child choose whether to have a closer interaction or a photo.
Share the planned greeting time and where to gather. Invite guests to participate without requiring anyone to approach or pose.
Check venue access and permission with the operator. Ask us to confirm program details, costs and availability; an inquiry does not reserve a date.
In Pelican, Alaska, give the child of honor room to greet the character at their own pace, especially if the gathering includes guests arriving from different directions. A short hello can lead into photos or a simple optional activity. Ask us about the visit you are considering; program details, costs and availability need confirmation. The supplied facts refer to statewide guidance and a specific state recreation site, not a confirmed Pelican venue, so check the exact location, access and permission before planning there.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Alaska's Refuge Cove State Recreation Site publishes an online reservation route for its picnic shelter. Check the specific shelter, date and access conditions rather than assuming every state park works the same way. Ask the operator about permission for a hired character visit; the reservation route alone does not establish that permission.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
