A Richmond, Ohio character party can feel personal with a short, child-led welcome and room for guests to participate at their own pace. Decide in advance who will greet the character and where the birthday child can meet them comfortably. A simple group activity followed by a few photos is often easier to manage than a long sequence. For an outdoor gathering, prepare an indoor weather option and let guests know the plan. Share practical arrival notes with the character-visit team; confirm the requested program, cost, and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue.
