Offer an optional shared activity or photo turn. Let children participate at their own comfort level.

For a Romulus, Michigan party, give one adult the weather role before the guest list arrives. That leaves the host free to focus on the birthday child's greeting, photos and a simple optional activity. These are statewide planning checks, not verified Romulus venues or local policies. Choose an accessible indoor backup and confirm the route with the venue; no local facility or policy is verified here. Share the schedule and guest needs with our team, and confirm program details, costs and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
