Let the child watch first, wave from beside a trusted adult, or say hello when ready. Keep the choice theirs.
Confirm the reservation, access, facility rules, and whether a hired character visit is permitted. Do not assume a published booking route grants that approval.
Ask us about the requested theme, program, cost, and availability. A date or ZIP code request does not reserve or pay for a visit.
In Russian Mission, Alaska, keep the visit plan simple and check access details before settling on an outdoor gathering. A child's special moment can be a quiet hello, a wave, or a short conversation while staying near a trusted adult. Allow time for individual photos before inviting guests to join a brief activity. Statewide information does not verify local venues or their policies, so confirm the exact site, access, and permission for a hired character. Ask us to confirm the theme, program details, cost, and availability; an inquiry is not a booking.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Alaska's Refuge Cove State Recreation Site publishes an online reservation route for its picnic shelter. Check the specific shelter, date and access conditions rather than assuming every state park works the same way. Ask the operator about permission for a hired character visit; the reservation route alone does not establish that permission.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
