In York Township, build the party plan around a calm arrival and a clear weather decision. Let the birthday child know the character is coming, then offer a low-pressure greeting or time to watch before inviting other children to join. Keep photos optional and designate one adult to handle the schedule, so the birthday child can stay with a familiar grown-up. For an outdoor plan, decide in advance where everyone will go if conditions change. Before you ask us, prepare your date, setting and preferred visit style; program details, cost and availability must be confirmed.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
