Let the character greet the whole group first. Children can wave, watch or approach with a caregiver when they are ready.
Set aside a clear spot and invite families in small turns. A group photo first can help children who prefer not to pose alone.
Ask the venue about its own rules and access, then ask us to confirm the theme, visit program, price and requested date.
In Unity, Maryland, make the visit feel welcoming by giving children more than one way to take part. The character might begin with a wave, pause for a group photo and then greet children who choose to come closer. Keep the gathering area open so families can move around without crowding the moment. Statewide planning guidance is available, but city facilities and policies have not been verified. Confirm the theme, visit format, price and date with our team before making plans.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
As a city-scoped example within Maryland, Baltimore city recreation centers provide room rental information. Baltimore directs families to their recreation center for room rental information. Check the actual room capacity, permitted entertainment and setup time rather than assuming any recreation center can host the same program. This example applies only to Baltimore's listed municipal facilities; other cities and state-managed parks have separate operators and rules. Confirm the exact venue's reservation process and permission for hired entertainment.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
