Discuss the confirmed layout with the team and ask about a manageable visit plan. Do not assume equipment or activities are included.
Invite children to greet, join a short activity or watch. A trusted adult can stay beside a hesitant child.
Check layout, access, reservation conditions and permission for hired entertainment before finalizing plans.
For a gathering in Ardmore, picture how guests will move through the chosen space before deciding where the character visit fits. A simple hello, a short activity and an optional photo stop can keep the visit manageable. Let children choose whether to join or watch from their group. Confirm the exact facility's layout and whether hired entertainment is permitted. Share timing, ages and setup notes with our team; program details, costs and availability need confirmation.

Alabama State Parks lists picnic tables and other features for the pavilion at Roland Cooper State Park. Treat this as one state-managed facility example: check the current layout, access and reservation process for the exact space you are considering. Describe any hired entertainer to the operator and ask whether that activity is permitted before booking.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
