Let them watch from a comfortable distance. A wave or brief greeting can be the whole interaction.
Pick the photo spot ahead of time and invite children in small groups, without making anyone pose.
Choose an adult to watch the weather, confirm the indoor route with the venue, and ask us about visit details and availability.
A character visit in Kimbolton can work well as a short, welcoming pause in the party schedule. Give the birthday child time to notice the guest before inviting a greeting; a wave or a seat beside a familiar adult is enough. Keep participation optional, then offer a group photo or a simple activity for children who want to join. Decide who will guide the group and who will help younger guests. Ask us to confirm the requested theme, program details, cost, and availability before making plans around the visit.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
