Have the character approach at the child's pace, with a wave or a photo offered rather than expected.
Invite guests to stand for one group pose or greet the character one at a time. Watching is fine too.
Ask about capacity, layout, current booking conditions and permission for hired entertainment or equipment.
In Peterboro, plan the character visit around a clear, comfortable gathering space. The birthday child might receive a quiet greeting first, followed by an optional photo; guests can join a group pose or stay with their grown-ups. If considering a pavilion or event rental, check its exact capacity and layout before settling the activity plan. Describe the character visit and any equipment to the operator. Share the schedule and child's preferences with our team, and confirm program details and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
New York State Parks describes a range of pavilion and event rental sizes and amenities. Check the exact facility's capacity, layout and regional booking conditions before choosing a gathering plan. Confirm whether a hired character visit and any equipment are permitted; the statewide rental page does not establish that every activity or date is available.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
