Tell the child what to expect and offer a wave or watching from nearby as valid choices. Let them decide whether to approach or take a photo.
Check the facility's allowed hours first, then leave a little room for greetings and guest turns. Confirm the planned timing with the character team.
A request is not a reservation. Ask us to confirm the date, requested theme, program details and cost before sharing a firm plan.
A Hartman, North Carolina character visit works best when the timing leaves the birthday child space to settle in. Start with a hello or wave, then offer a photo or brief guest activity without making either mandatory. If using a state park room or shelter, check the allowed use period before setting the character's arrival and departure. No local facility or policy is verified here. Prepare the child's preferred greeting and share it with the character team; confirm program details, cost and availability in advance.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
North Carolina State Parks notes that facilities can have limited hours. Check the exact shelter or room's permitted use period, layout and reservation conditions before setting the entertainer's arrival and departure times. Ask the park about hired entertainment separately; a facility reservation does not establish approval for all party activities.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
