Have the character wave first and let the child choose whether to come closer. Watching from a parent's side is a fine way to start.
Choose a clear photo spot and invite the birthday child first. Offer guests a turn without requiring anyone to pose or hug.
Check facility access and permission with its operator. Ask our team about the requested theme, program details, cost and availability.
In Kemps Landing, make the child's first encounter calm and easy to follow. Ask the character to begin with a wave from a comfortable distance, then let the birthday child decide whether to approach, chat or simply watch. A short greeting, a few posed photos and a simple group game can give the visit shape without asking every guest to join. Before choosing an outdoor setting, identify the exact facility and ask its operator about access and permission for hired entertainment. Confirm the visit program and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Louisiana's Office of State Parks contact page provides a route to make and manage park reservations. Use that official route and the exact park operator to identify whether you need lodging, a shelter or another group facility. Check activity eligibility, access and permission for hired entertainment separately; the contact page does not establish approval or availability for your party.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
