Plan a brief hello and one shared activity, then leave room for the child to step away or rejoin.
Invite guests to wait for their turn in a photo or offer birthday wishes from a little distance.

For a Mindenville gathering, make the child's first encounter easy to understand: a friendly hello, a choice to wave or speak, then a photo if they are comfortable. Keep guest participation optional, such as inviting children to offer one birthday wish or pose together. New York's statewide rental guidance describes a range of pavilion sizes and amenities, but it does not verify venues or policies in Mindenville. Confirm the exact space, its terms, and permission for a hired character visit before settling the plan.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
New York State Parks describes a range of pavilion and event rental sizes and amenities. Check the exact facility's capacity, layout and regional booking conditions before choosing a gathering plan. Confirm whether a hired character visit and any equipment are permitted; the statewide rental page does not establish that every activity or date is available.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
