Begin with a brief greeting and let children choose whether to wave, watch or join a simple group moment.
Ask one adult to organize a group photo first. Offer individual photos only as an option, with space for children to step away.
Ask about capacity, setup and permission for entertainment. Check directly with the operator; statewide guidance does not establish local approval.
For a North Bangor gathering, give the character visit a simple shape: a warm hello, a few minutes for children to settle, then a shared activity or photo if the group is ready. A parent can stay close to younger guests, while a host quietly invites others to join. Ask us about the requested costume theme and possible program ideas; the theme provider must confirm details, costs and availability. New York's park information can guide questions, but it does not verify local venues or their policies.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
New York State Parks describes a range of pavilion and event rental sizes and amenities. Check the exact facility's capacity, layout and regional booking conditions before choosing a gathering plan. Confirm whether a hired character visit and any equipment are permitted; the statewide rental page does not establish that every activity or date is available.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
