Let the child stay with a parent and choose whether to wave, talk, or watch. Avoid making a hug or photo part of the expectation.
Invite guests to participate from their places with a wave or simple group activity. Keep a little open space around the child.
Check the exact gathering location and access, then share the meeting point, child's name, and preferences with the provider. Confirm program details, costs, and availability.
For Ogelthorpe, Georgia, put the child's comfort first by keeping the greeting brief and giving them space to respond. A parent can introduce the character, then offer the child a choice to wave, take a photo, or join a short activity with guests. Before guests arrive, identify the meeting area and who will help younger children move through the visit. If gathering at a state facility, check its exact setup. Confirm the program, costs, and availability with the theme provider.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Georgia State Parks distinguishes different gathering facilities, including enclosed group shelters and open picnic shelters. Contact the relevant park before reserving to verify the actual room or shelter amenities, access and conditions. Confirm permission for hired entertainment; an enclosed facility listing does not guarantee that every proposed party activity is allowed.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
