Start with a wave from a comfortable distance. Let the child choose whether to approach, take a photo or watch with a trusted adult.
Offer one simple group activity, such as a wave, pose or short dance, and let guests participate or observe.
Choose a clear greeting area, tell the character team about the child's preferences, and confirm the program, cost and availability with our team.
For a character visit in Ora, make the first moment calm and easy to follow. Have the character greet the birthday child at their comfort level, then offer a wave or a place beside a familiar adult before inviting photos. A short story, simple dance or group pose can give guests a way to join without pressure. Statewide planning checks, not verified Ora venues or policies: check an actual facility listing for the space and amenities you need, then ask its operator about reservations and hired entertainment. Confirm program ideas, costs and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
South Carolina State Parks provides an interactive map and filters for its park directory. Use the actual facility listings to check the space, seating, access and amenities required for your gathering. Ask the specific operator about reservations and hired entertainment; a map result is not a venue recommendation or approval for a party.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
