Offer a wave, a distant hello or a closer greeting, and let the child choose. Avoid making a photo or interaction a requirement.
Explain the optional activity in advance, allow guests to watch, and keep the photo area uncluttered for quick turns.
No. Check facility arrangements with the operator and confirm the theme provider's program, cost and availability before treating plans as settled.
In Okatie, a character visit can be planned around a small, memorable moment rather than a packed schedule. Let the birthday child choose between a wave and a closer hello, then leave breathing room for photos and a simple activity guests can join by choice. Ask us about a manageable visit plan; the provider must confirm program details, cost and availability. State resources can help you inspect state-managed options, but they do not verify local venues or party policies. Check the actual facility's access, seating and amenities, and ask its operator about reservations and permission for hired entertainment.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
South Carolina State Parks provides an interactive map and filters for its park directory. Use the actual facility listings to check the space, seating, access and amenities required for your gathering. Ask the specific operator about reservations and hired entertainment; a map result is not a venue recommendation or approval for a party.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
