In Parma, Ohio, start the character visit with a brief, friendly hello and let the birthday child decide what comes next. They might wave, speak with the character or move directly to a family photo. Guests can take turns or remain observers. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Parma venues or policies. Keep the visit area simple and accessible, and ask the venue about its own rules. Ask us to confirm the requested program, cost and availability before you set a party schedule.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
