Let them stay close to a trusted adult and choose a wave, a photo or no direct interaction.

Check the venue's permission and ask our team to confirm the character theme, program details, costs and availability.
In Petersburg, Ohio, make the character visit feel manageable by setting a clear start and keeping the first interaction optional. The birthday child can choose a wave or photo, while other guests wait nearby rather than forming a crowd. A brief group activity can follow for children who want to take part. If the gathering is outdoors, statewide weather guidance offers useful preparation steps, though it does not verify local venues or policies. Confirm the venue's rules, designate an adult for weather decisions and check visit details with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
