For a Preble gathering, a little advance checking can keep the character moment relaxed. If you are considering an outdoor shelter, verify its specific amenities and rules rather than assuming another park's arrangements apply. Prepare a simple welcome: the character can wave first, while the birthday child chooses a greeting, a photo or time to watch. Ask us about program details, cost and availability, and confirm the location permits a hired character visit.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Wisconsin DNR describes the reservable picnic shelter at its MacKenzie Center and its booking route through the State Parks reservation system. Treat this as one state-managed facility example: check the actual shelter, nearby facilities and conditions with the operator. Confirm permission for a hired character visit; the listing does not establish rules for every Wisconsin park.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
