Name one adult before the party, so the organizer can focus on guests and the birthday child.
Offer space to watch first, then let the child decide whether to wave or approach.
No. Ask us to confirm the requested theme, program details, cost and availability.
A Ruth party can stay calm even when the weather needs attention: assign one adult to watch conditions while another welcomes guests. When the character arrives, the birthday child can wave, say hello, or observe from a comfortable spot. Invite the group into a brief photo only if the child is ready, then continue with the party at an easy pace. The cited weather guidance is general; local facilities and event policies are not verified.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
