In Sammonsville, a welcoming visit can begin with the birthday child choosing how to meet the character: from a parent's side, with a wave or in a photo. Keep guest participation flexible with a short shared song or a few volunteers rather than a long queue. If you are considering a state pavilion or shelter, match its capacity and layout to your group before shaping the activity. Statewide rental information does not confirm local availability or permission, so check the exact operator and plan an indoor backup.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
New York State Parks describes a range of pavilion and event rental sizes and amenities. Check the exact facility's capacity, layout and regional booking conditions before choosing a gathering plan. Confirm whether a hired character visit and any equipment are permitted; the statewide rental page does not establish that every activity or date is available.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
