Invite the character to offer a wave or greeting, then let the birthday child choose whether to step forward or stay beside a parent.
Offer a simple group pose or call-and-response, while making watching perfectly fine. Keep the activity short so younger guests can move at their own pace.
Send the planned timing, room or shelter layout, guest ages and access needs. Confirm the service's program, cost and availability separately.
For a Union Cross gathering, decide how children will take part before choosing the character visit's pace. A gentle greeting can lead into a birthday-child spotlight, a group photo and one optional activity, with room for guests to observe instead. Check your venue's timing before building the schedule. The facility guidance here is statewide; city venues and policies have not been verified. Ask us about the requested theme, then confirm program details, cost and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
North Carolina State Parks notes that facilities can have limited hours. Check the exact shelter or room's permitted use period, layout and reservation conditions before setting the entertainer's arrival and departure times. Ask the park about hired entertainment separately; a facility reservation does not establish approval for all party activities.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
